Who are We

The Strategic Analytics team is responsible for the development and execution of the Bank's data analytics strategy. The role holder will deliver value-prioritised analytics projects that are closely aligned to the Groups strategic ambition in a scrum team on behalf of internal customers; and contribute to identifying appropriate framework tools and standards to enable Bank of Ireland to become a data driven organisation at all levels of the company.

Strategic Analytics create data-driven solutions to support the business. We collaborate with other specialists in a hub and spoke network, spread capability awareness and develop new talent. The team is built on three pillars: strategic value prioritisation, design thinking and agile delivery. What is the opportunity?

This is a fantastic opportunity to as a Group role to lead a technical team. You will be focused on developing Tableau based reporting and data visualisation for business leadership across all aspects of data, from Customer Level Data, Transactional Data, Demographic Data, Product Data, Web Session Data, using a range of platforms including the Tableau, Teradata, Cloudera, and Google Analytics.

Our team provides expertise in all aspects of customer intelligence reporting and maintains ownership over key data processes.

The role will act as leader for the newly insourced Tableau capability, driving strategy, prioritisation and delivery of capability alongside continuous improvement and enhancement.

The role holder will build the team who deliver and develop the Tableau reporting & insights and will be the Bank's accountable person for the quality and performance of this capability.

Key Accountabilities

  • Owns and runs the front office for Tableau reporting & Insights across the Enterprise, utilising the strategic data assets.
  • Define and optimise the end-to end delivery model.
  • Define the overall ongoing testing and maintenance strategy.
  • Designing, building and maintaining Tableau reports & Insights for the Enterprise.
  • Shaping and prioritising the backlog for the Tableau service.
  • Optimising the run schedule for the platform.
  • Optimising the Tableau reporting layer (efficiency and lag time).

Who are You

Essential Qualifications

  • Third Level qualification, in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT, or another field including a significant numerical element

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Demonstrated ability developing data visualisation through Tableau or an equivalent software platform
  • Essential experience of coding in SQL and Tableau
  • Proven track record as a Product Owner for a comparable technology and/or capability focussed in the Data space
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Data Warehouse, Enterprise Data Lake and Operational Data Store models and exploitation of these
  • Experience gathering and translating business requirements into Analytical outputs required by business partners and management on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Experience with data governance, data lineage, and metadata practices
  • Experience with build automation tools and strategies
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
  • Superb communication skills.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Prior experience developing Reporting and Data Insight and Visualisation for Financial Services Companies.
  • Experience of successfully exploiting Big Data platforms (e.g. Cloudera which is used in the Bank)
  • Background in data integration/ETL techniques/data modelling for the design of data processes.
  • Python/Java/R desirable.
  • Experience of Regulatory, Financial & Risk Reporting
  • Nice to have Dynamics/Salesforce
  • Understanding of process flow, data management, GDPR and data lineage concepts
  • Experience in writing high-performance, enterprise-quality reporting and analytics.
